Can I pick your brain? I’d like to do a contest sometime and I was wondering what makes you go out of your way to enter a blog contest and what turns you off. In the comments I would appreciate it if you picked your most enticing prize(s) and would be extra thrilled if you had any thoughts or suggestions about what you think makes a good or bad contest.

Books and gift cards always work! I gave away a book on my blog a few weeks ago (my first giveaway!) and plan to do it again soon. Everyone needs something new to read, right?

I think a lot of people go out of their way for big ticket items like iPods and ereaders (I know I do). But as far as other giveaways, I usually go out of my way for a book that I really want to read. I don't usually enter giveaways for gift cards to book sellers, because then I actually have to pick a book. Petty, I know, but the money would sit for weeks because I couldn't decide which book I wanted most. I like the decision to be made for me…but that's just my opinion. 🙂
