Library Loving Blog Challenge

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN…get ready for the LIBRARY LOVING BLOG CHALLENGE!!!!!

For every commenter on this post between now (March 28th) and Saturday, April 2nd, I will donate $1.00 to Blodgett Memorial Library, up to an amount of $150 total. *If I hit that number, I will absolutely consider raising that amount. *grin*  I LOVE this library!

How easy could it be? You comment, I cough up the money, the library gets a gift and a BIG cyber hug!  Of course, I’d love to hear about your favorite library memory, but if you don’t know what to say in your comment, “I love libraries” will do.

My pledge is “per commenter”—so if a single person leaves 50 comments, that still only counts one! But you can do AMAZING THINGS by spreading the word … please link to this post, tweet about it, mention it on Facebook, etc.  You can also raise money for additional local libraries by visiting the blogs of others participating in this blog challenge:

You can find a list of participating blogs listed on – writerjenn-THE BLOG OF JENNIFER R HUBBARD.

If you’re inspired to start your own challenge or donate a flat amount to your local library, please leave the amount of your pledge and the name of your library system in the comments.  This way we can sing your praises and I can have Jennifer add the amount to the grand total.

This is the third year of the challenge and my third year participating.  I am so proud to be a part of this.  Last year we raised $5,148,  80 pounds (UK), at least $300 worth of new books, plus donations of used books and audiotapes.  With your help we can top that number.

Last year I did a VIRTUAL TOUR of my library, feel free to check out the wonderful place and people I’m supporting.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping my library and all the libraries in this challenge.  Let the comments begin!!!!

  10. I just got back from the Franklin Lakes town library. I have fond memories of studying and researching at Blodgett. My parents wouldn't bring me to the Beacon library… they said it was too social of a place to be serious about studying 🙂

  28. Hey there! I'm doing the challenge too and wanted to spread the love. Good luck with your debut! Mine was in 2010 with Simon MIX (little cousin of Pulse.) Nice place, that Simon!

  29. I love libraries! My local children's librarian makes sure I always have great books to read.

  30. Yay! For the Library and Simon love!!!!!! I'll check your book out. :o) Thanks Stace!!!!

  31. Kim, it's so awesome for you to do this challenge again for the Blodgett Library! Even though I'm a bookseller, I've always loved libraries – pretty much grew up in my school libraries! I support my local library – the amazing, remodeled & expanded Adriance Memorial Library in Poughkeepsie – I always find great books & DVDs there. I think libraries are so important & invaluable to readers & to society. I hope you'll get lots of library-loving comments! 🙂

  32. OK, so the topic is – Library.
My Dad could never say the word "library". For some strange reason, maybe it was an accent thing or who knows, but he would always pronounce it as "lie-berry" .. like strawBerry or blueBerry… one of the many things we Lovingly ripped him on!! That was worth a $1, right?
    Good luck with the endeavor
    Joe
and PS: Now with the new house – as Town of Fishkill, we cover both Howland (through BCSD) & Blodgett library, too!

  33. Linda-thanks so much!!! Joe…I miss your dad. ((((hugs)))) Thanks for helping me out!!!!

    We are up to 22!!!!!

  34. Thanks so much for doing this – this is such an awesome thing! Library love to the world! <3

    Up to 26!!!!!

  40. Fantastic looking library. Wonderful of you to do this.

  41. Whoops! Just saw your tweet, how is it I read the post but failed to comment? I blame sleep deprivation! Give give give! 🙂

  48. Yay for libraries! You must be a kindred spirit, o fellow library-lover & Apocalypsie! 😀

  49. I heart libraries!!!!

  50. Hooray for libraries! Hooray for you for loving libraries!

  51. Glad to help!

  52. What a beautiful library. Your generosity is beautiful, too!

  53. We've got 37!!!!!!

  54. Thanks everyone-you're so sweet for taking the time out to support the library!

  55. Wonderful, wonderful idea – I would be a wreck without my local library. Thank you!

  56. Thank you for supporting libraries. They're one of our most important public institutions.

  57. I am living in Costa Rica, a land without libraries or books in general. You are so lucky to have a library and most people take them for granted.

  58. Libraries are the best. I just saw an article that talked about how 57% of the country would support defunding them or something ridiculous like that. Are they crazy? Free libraries are the key to knowledge and open access to not only books but movies, computers, and the internet. It makes me sad to think that people think they're no longer worth keeping around.

  59. Beth, Shelly and Logan-thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and to remind us of how lucky we are to have them!

  60. BTW-41!!!!!!
