Because My Parents Dressed Me Funny

Ummmm because I don’t have enough to do with back-to-school, soccer, construction, revisions and that little thing called a book launch. I’ve slowly started converting my mom’s slides to digital.

A very early picture of me. But I’m not important in this pic…check out what the two biggest influences in my life were wearing ROTFL! Who allowed this? And how did this effect my social and emotional growth?

Daddy and his baby *heart squish*

Home…there is no place like it.

I imagine he would have been looking at me a lot like this on October 30th. Notice the makeshift mobile with clothes pins and toys…my parents rock!

And this is why the book is dedicated to him…he always gave me a safe place to lay my head. I miss him.

Obviously my parents sense of style rubbed off on me but I think I pulled it off. LOL!

More pictures and interesting clothing choices to come. What’s the most interesting thing your parents dressed you in?

  1. awwwwww, how adorable <3 I like the last picture a lot, it is so cute 😀

  2. The shirts your parents were wearing! Wow, they took my breath away!

They look so young, too (as do you!)…

My mother made us matching psychedelic corduroy pants when we were little. UUUUUGGGGLLLLLYYY!

    • I know!!!! We have some of my poor brother LOL!….I can’t wait until I get to his slides Bwaaahhhhhh!

  3. OMG, the paisley, it hurts! I have pictures of my parents wearing lots of loud 70’s colors. Orange. Orange was BIG back then.

There is a picture of me when I’d just learned to walk. I’m wearing a dress that looks – well… picture a tablecloth in an Italian restaurant. I think it’s red checks. UGH! I look like a spaghetti sauce ad.

  4. Awwww. So cute!

I have two older brothers (and one younger), so I was dressed in lots of hand-me-down boy clothes. Having no hair to speak of until I was two (well, I had hair, but it was so blonde you could barely see it), I of course looked just like one of the guys.

  5. My mom actually saved those ugly 70’s clothes and brought them over about a year ago thinking my girls could wear them!!!

  6. My mom always scoffs at mother/daughter things, esp. clothes. ALWAYS. And she only has two children… you guessed it, both girls! Funny thing, I see a lot of pics of her with me in the ’70’s. I’m always wearing something adorable and handmade in the latest fabrics. So many of her “do rags” match my clothes, lol. I love your pics. You’re so cute… then and now. I can totally tell that baby is you.

  7. Yay to childhood photos and paisley print clothing (retro is in)!!! I love photos #3 and #6. You were adorable as a baby ^_^

In kindergarten, I sort of remember pink corduroy overalls (would have been cooler if it were green like Corduroy Bear but without a missing button)… and dresses. That is some scary stuff for me back then, especially since I was a tomboy.

  8. Hi Kim. I love the pictures of your mom and dad. They look just as I remember them. Congratulations on your book! I will definitely be reading it. I hope all is well with you.

    • Thank you soooo much. Yeah, they are “cuties” LOL!
