Where have you been???
Oh, wait, it was me that fell down the rabbit hole and got lost? Yeah, I guess it was.
I was busy surviving the end of the school year. I know normal people do this all the time, but let’s face it, I don’t consider myself normal.
I’m a procrastinating, organizationally challenged mom who’s allergic to party planning. I harbor secret guilt about how excited I am the day after birthday parties and graduation events. But I love my people and I’m married to a host with the most, so I try to crawl out of my box when necessary.
But, summer is HERE! RITH NOW!!!! Although you wouldn’t know it much from the weather. WTH humidity and rain???? And I have some things on my agenda for the vacation–besides spending quality time hanging out with my family and being foot loose and fancy free. Here are the BIG ones…
*VACATION!!!! I will be taking an Alaskan Cruise this summer. I am so excited. Major bucket list item. I VOW to pack and prepare ahead of time giving me a stress free lead up to the trip!!! Stop snorting!!!!!
*WRITING!!!! Well, no surprise there–I write all year long. But I’ve got some really great projects that I’m working on and I’d love to finish. And of course I’m off to SCBWI LA at the end of July.
*TIDYING UP!!!! I know I moved into my house a year and a half ago, but some how all the not so fun stuff to unpack and organize got shoved to the side and in the closet and into every available nook and cranny. My goal this summer is to utilize my boys to entertain my dog so I can get my act together. I read THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING UP by Marie Kondo and while not everything resonated with me, I certainly found lots to love and implement. More posts and pictures of my progress over the summer.
*AND BLOG MORE!!!!! Because I’ve missed you. <3
What are your projects, goals and big plans? What’s on your summer agenda?

I did that brain fart thing and forgot I blog on Tuesdays now. *head thunk* In fact I was laying in bed (enjoying the humidity-NOT!) and letting my mind wander. Book 3 has been calling me to start from scratch and reinvent my previous ideas. This morning those ideas started percolating. *fist pump* I’ve been reading some fabulous articles on writing lately and it’s really helped me to grow with my writing. I love that inspiration and great content are out there for the taking. *hugs whole world* But I digress–back to my brain fart. I’m lying in bed with my brain whirring away when BAM!
**BLOG POST ALERT**
I forgot to write my Tuesday post. Now it’s like–oh, crap–what do I write about? *No you can’t have coffee until you finish* But *insert whiny voice* All I really I want to do is concentrate on the last of my revisions and continue to day dream and mind plot my next novel. I can’t be witty or helpful when that much of my brain is in use. In fact sometimes I can’t be witty and helpful with a lot less of my brain in use. But this must get done ASAP! So, I flip to YouTube, looking for a life-altering vlog that will make you forget my incompetence and I find this…

And I know it doesn’t have anything to do with anything, but I found it pretty darn amusing. And since it isn’t even hump day yet, its very humid, I’m tired because I’ve been up since 6am plotting and I planned on revising in a park around my kid’s schedules today and it’s RAINING–I’ll take the little things. Enjoy the chuckle. What would be your criteria for naming hurricanes and what would you name the next one? Have you been day dreaming about your plots? Any great writing advice or inspiration that you’ve been reading about?

The next time I write a blog post it will be 2012!!!! I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to New Year’s Eve quite as much as I am this year. I know it’s silly, but dipping a toe into 2012 feels like hitting another big milestone. TOUCHING THE SURFACE is roughly 9 months away!!!
I’ve had three kids…I know what kinds of things can happen in a 9 month period. LOL!
So what are some of the things happening in the new year? Well, first off–I have my first pass pages!!! (Yes, I’m aware of my spastic over use of the exclamation point–it can’t be helped.) If you’re not familiar, first pass pages are large sheets of paper that have my book laid out the way it will look when it’s really printed into a book. Do you want a sneak peek?
This is the equivalent of two pages of text from the book. Since I got them right before the hectic holidays, I’ve been hanging on to them until the kids are all back in school and the house is nice and quiet. It’s been awhile since I’ve read my book cover to cover, so I’m really excited to curl up with it again. It’s also the last time that I get a chance to make any changes. *shivers* I’ve been fiddling with this baby for so long its a little scary to think that it’s finally time to send it out into the world. I have butterflies of the very best kind.
More good news to watch for. Next week will be the launch of my website!!! Maybe I’m biased, but I think it’s gorgeous. Do you want a sneak peek of that too? Okay…here it is…
Yes, my blog will be moving to the new website on Word Press. The old blog will be set up to redirect you to the new location, so hopefully no one will be lost in cyber space. Of course I’ll let you know the minute the website is live, but just so you know, you’ll be able to find me at www.kimberlysabatini.com.
Additionally, I’d like to tip you off to something fun that I’ll be participating in. Do you watch the Amazing Race? Well, on January 13th and 14th, I’ll be participating in the first Apocalypsie YAmazing Race! An internet race around the blogosphere. It’s going to be lots of fun and there will be really cool prizes–so keep those dates on your calendar.
Lastly, at the end of the month I’ll be heading to the NY SCBWI Winter Conference. Or as we call it in my house–Daddy Party Weekend!!! I’m very pumped because I’m reuniting with old friends, meeting some on-line friends for the first time and I’m also taking the Friday Marketing Intensive. Lots of exciting stuff! And of course, I promise to take lots of pictures to share with you. :o)
So now you’ve heard all about some of the things I’m excited for in 2012–what are you looking forward to in the new year? Come on, spill.
