My Second Runniversary

May 21, 2012 | , , , ,

Today is officially my 2nd Runniversary!!!! I have been a runner for two years now and I’m very proud of that. Running was never an activity that I enjoyed, but if you know me personally or read my blog you now that it has come to be many things to me, including a personal, physical challenge and a creative outlet. I’ll be honest, one of the things that brought me to running was the technology. I’m a bit of a feedback freak and Nike’s gadgets for tracking information, allowed me to run outside and still get the info that I craved. It truly won me over. So, to celebrate my competitive nature, here are my stats…

In two years I have gone on 122 runs for a grand total of 94 hours and 40 minutes.  I have run 585.25  miles and burned  57,859 calories. Woo hoo!!!!

What’s your favorite form of exercise? Are you a runner? What do you love and have about hitting the pavement? Have I convinced you to start running????

Also, we have a winner for the ARC of IN A FIX by Linda Grimes!!!! Drum roll please…

Congrats to Abigail from All Things Urban Fantasy!!!!!!!!

*COMING SOON* Watch my blog for a chance to win an ARC of Trish Doller’s SOMETHING LIKE NORMAL.

Wow! That’s a lot of running. You rock!

My favorite exercise? Hmmm. That’s kind of like asking me what my favorite dental procedure is. There are forms of exercise I dislike less than others, but … Wait, does exercise in the boudoir count? When my heart rate increases, I like a better payoff than blisters on my heels. 😉

Congrats to Abigail! And thanks again to you for sharing your ARC of In a Fix. 🙂

I love running, but I haven’t been able to in years. I have too many problems with my body–back, ankles, knees. So instead I go for low impact stuff like the elliptical or biking outside. Congratulations on your Runnerversary!

    • Kim says:

Awww sorry to hear that you have health issues. I’m doing much better now that I learned how to adjust my stride, but I’m still a frequent flyer at the chiropractor. :o)

  3. Amy Dixon says:

Wow, that is weird, I just blogged last week about it being my second year running! I ran my first 5K in May 2010 and have been hooked ever since. Besides the physical payoff, I also find that I am able to work out problems with my manuscripts while running. I am competitive too, and have found myself signed up for a half-marathon in the Fall. The most I have done is a 10K so it will be a challenge, but I am up for it!

    Congrats on your Runniversary!

    • Kim says:

My favorite kind of weird!!!! You are a rock star–I haven’t done a race yet, but I’d like to try it some time. But I do love the head space that comes with the run. <3 Happy Runniversary!!!!

I see your run stats on twitter and envy you! Two years is awesome!

As for my favorite forms of exercise, you know I love dancing and skating. I love gliding through the air and defying gravity (my coach always says “Enjoy the flight!”) But my latest hamstring injury has had me craving a good run. Who knows? Maybe running is in my future… or it might stay firmly in warm-up category!

    • Kim says:

I’m not a “skater” although classes would be fun. And you know I love dancing so I’m with you. Damn those hammies–they are always being difficult. :o)

  5. Karen M, (North Carolina) says:

Hey Kimmie, you are truly amazing. Wish it ran in the family (ha ha). Send me a copy of your book (if you can). More power to you. You are inspiration to all who know you.

  6. Kim says:

Awww–you’re pretty awesome too! Hope you guys are all doing well. No books available until October 30th! *pouts*

  7. Anita says:

I don’t know if I’m an official runner because I’m slow. 🙂 According to my 10k time, I’m a jogger/runner. But I’m 54, so I’m glad the knees and body can still handle it.

I hope you will continue to get the runner’s high and all the other mental and physical benefits of doing so.

    • Kim says:

Anita–DO NOT sell yourself short. You ARE a runner! It’s as much about the heart as it is the feet. Way to go!

  8. Erica says:

That is a lot of running! That is so awesome!

I am not a runner at all, I wish I was – Instead my exercise of choice is definitely dance 🙂

    Congrats on the Runniversary!
