Oh, For Pete’s Sake

Filed under: Baby Book Blogger, Blogging, Fun and Games, Pondering

Who was the original Pete that has spawned this well used phrase? And am I even saying it right, because until Michelle Wolfson set me straight I’d always thought I had another thing coming. Yup, that’s why I’ve been stalking the UPS guy! the truth is that I have to think again because it’s…you’ve got another THINK coming. Who knew? Obviously Michelle and possibly Pete, but definitely not me. Β Any way, the reason I’m talking about Pete really has nothing to do with his well being. My Internet accidentally got unplugged by the guys working in the house and the pile of wires looks like scary octopus spawn and I can’t get the dang thing figured out–even for Pete’s sake. May he rest in peace. He can’t possibly be still alive.

So, I’m on my iPad way past my mandatory early to bed, the kids are back inschool and I have to be up at 5:30 time, and I’m writing a blog post because I know your day couldn’t possibly be complete without this post. *snicker* I’ve got no links and because I believe that all good posts should have a picture, I’m gonna find you something special from whatever I can find on my iPad. On second thought…that may be a bit of a problem. But I’ll see what I can do from my phone.

Forgive the typos, the lack of links and the possible invisible picture. Please. Also tell me what your favorite thing to do when the Internet is out and you can’t say read because we’re all bookworms. LOL! Okay, this mess of a blog, not even proofread is going live now because I’m going to bed.

  1. I like to sit down with the hubby and a glass of wine!

  2. I don’t know who Pete is either, but I figure he must be important if all these things get done for his sake.

Hope you get your tangle of wires figured out soon! πŸ™‚

  3. KNIT!! You really need to pick this back up again πŸ™‚

  4. I love this post. πŸ™‚ My grandfather used to use the phrase “for the love of Pete!” when something delighted him. I adopted it and also all the other innocent words he used instead of swearing. When I use these phrases, I feel connected with the past.

It’s why my protag in my current book is named Pete. πŸ™‚

  5. Pete’s part of the gang that begins with for the love of Mary and Joeseph, Mike, Martha, Gideon, and all the other Arch Angels in the good lord’s little heaven…(obviously, this name dropping goes on until you get all your frustration out…Or…) and then you end with, “and especially dear St. Jude because he’s the patron saint of lost causes, which is what you/this/he/that/fill-it-in/youknowwhat is/are!!” Then you smile sweetly at passersby and nod, with a cheerful, “good morning, how are you? God bless you!” πŸ˜‰

Well duh, it’s reading!!! But you said I can’t say that, soooooo… I’m gonna go with cuddling. πŸ™‚

  6. Whenever I hear that phrase, my mind instantly goes to Pete’s Dragon…not sure where it originated, but it’s a delightful connection, anyways!

Hmmm, not sure if it’s my favourite, but I’ll usually clean. That way, I don’t feel guilty when the internet is back on and I am sitting in front of it like a fool again!
